Background Information
Porsche revealed the 992 GT3 in February 2021. The 992 GT3 has the same engine as its predecessor, a 4.0-litre flat-six updated to produce 510 PS (503 hp; 375 kW) at 8,400 rpm and 470 N⋅m (347 lb⋅ft) of torque at 6,250 rpm, with a 9,000 rpm redline. The 992 GT3 is capable of 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 3.4 seconds.
The 992 GT3 moves to an unequal-length control-arm front suspension influenced by the 991 RSR. The rear wing has swan-neck pylons with increased downforce compared to previous GT3 models. The GT3 is offered with either a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK or a six-speed manual.

Unboxing
It is time to start the next ALPHA Model project.
In the usual blue box Alpha Model have packed all the needed parts to make another great model. Since the cast and PE quality are as usually flawless I will try to focus more on the details and a couple of things that bothered me on this kit.
The details are amazing — all the panel gaps are nice and crisp, also all the interior parts are nicely divided to make detailing easier. Alpha Model also included almost all the needed decals, and also carbon fiber decals that are not on the real car.
Now to the things that bother me: first is the rear center light and the logo that look very complicated to make. Next on the bad menu are the window trims that are molded with the body instead of being made of PE, and last the wheels — they look a little small, but that won't be a problem like you will see.
While everything seemed normal in the previous post, from now on it will get completely different. Since I am a huge 911 fan I have always envisioned myself how my dream 911 would look like, and this model will be a representation of my dream 911.
Custom Wheels — Geronimoworks Vossen S21-01
Although the stock wheels in the kit look fine they seemed a bit small for my taste and also the design that I had in mind was different from the stock wheels. So I contacted my good friends over at Geronimoworks and asked them for a bit of help. And the package I received contained the wheels you can see in pictures today.
These are exact replicas of the Vossen S21-01 monoblock center lock wheels, and as usual with Geronimoworks the quality of their products is outstanding.
All the details are represented with great attention, the multi piece design allows for easy assembly and painting, and to make sure you won't damage the delicate spokes they come pre-cleaned so you can immediately start to paint them.

Next on the agenda is the resin parts preparation for the special GT3. As usual all the parts received a nice warm soapy bath before progressing. To clean all the silicones off from the parts warm water and dishwashing liquid was used.
To reach all the gaps and details different toothbrushes were used.
After all the parts are clean and dry it is time to prepare the body for further steps.
Scribing Panel Lines
To do so all the panel lines were scribed with either 0.1mm or 0.2mm knives. The 0.1mm is used for fixed panels, and the bigger one for movable panels.
After this the body got sanded with 800 grit sanding sponge provided by Spekter Žalec • Specialist za barve Št. 1.
With all the steps done all the parts are prepared to be painted.

As promised last time, it is now time to start to work on the interior of the Porsche.
Painting the Interior
For this model I have chosen to do a two-tone, beige-black interior. And to do so first everything was painted with AMMO by Mig Jimenez Satin Black paint provided by Back To Basics. Also in this step the rollcage was painted in the matching exterior color that was supplied by Spekter Žalec • Specialist za barve Št. 1.
Once the paint has completely dried, some parts of the interior got masked off and then painted with AMMO's Light Brown figure paint that has a great leather like finish.
Applying Decals
After the painted parts have dried completely the decals were added and with that all the parts are prepared for them to be assembled into the finished interior.
Interior Assembly
This time it is time to show you the assembly process of the interior and at the end also the finished interior.
The process begins with adding pedals to the tub, and afterwards attaching rollcage and the seats to it. Next step is to add the center console and from here on the interior was assembled only for photo purposes since different parts of it have to be assembled directly to the body.
With this all the sub components are now finished and the model is prepared for final assembly where some additional details will be done using a resin 3D printer.

Painting the Components
This time I will show you how wheels and brakes were made.
First step was to paint all the bits in the right color:
- Tires: Tamiya XF-85 Rubber Black
- Rims: AMMO by Mig Jimenez Alclad Pale Gold (for the amazingly detailed Geronimoworks rims)
- Brake Calipers: Revell Fire Red
- Wheel Center & Brake Discs: AMMO by Mig Jimenez Matt Black (supplied by Back To Basics)
Decals & Finishing
Next step was to put decals where they need to be, to machine grind the discs to add some realism and then to assemble it all in one part.

Priming & Base Paint
In the next couple of posts the word will be about the body of the Porsche, and to start it all it was time to give the previously cleaned and prepared body its final color.
To ensure a good adhesion with the resin base the body was primed using AMMO by Mig Jimenez Titans spray can white primer supplied by Back To Basics. The primer has a super fine structure and can be laid down in very thin layers in order not to cover the details.
After the primer it was time to lay down the base paint. This was prepared by the specialists from Spekter Žalec • Specialist za barve Št. 1 according to the official VW group recipe for the PTS (Paint To Sample) NATO Olive paint.
After the paint was laid and completely dried a thin layer of automotive 2K clear was applied and left to dry. To prepare the clear coat on some further enhancements it was sanded with #2000 grit sanding sponges that were also supplied by Spekter Žalec • Specialist za barve Št. 1.
Carbon Fiber Decals
After the body was previously prepared for decaling, that is just what I am going to show you today. Since this is a build that represents my spec of the GT3 there are some alterations from the real car. And one of them is extensive use of carbon fiber on the exterior.
Although the real car has basically no carbon fiber apart from the optional roof, Alpha Model have included CF decals for the roof, front and rear splitter and the rear wing. The supplied decals are great and have a nice texture, but for this one I wanted something special. So I have contacted S.k.decals and they sent me some of their bookmatch CF decal sheets.
The original decals were cut off of the sheet and were used as templates for the bookmatch carbon. The S.k.decals are nice to work with and with help of some AMMO by Mig Jimenez Decal Soft and Decal Set supplied by Back To Basics they laid down to all the complicated curves of the roof and the front and rear splitter.
To finish it all up I added some decals to the mirrors and applied semi-gloss clear coat to both splitters.
Gloss Clear Coat & Polishing
The body and the mirrors were coated with a coat of automotive gloss clear.
In the mean time the clear coat on the body dried up nicely, and all the flat black details were painted with AMMO by Mig Jimenez Matt black paint supplied by Back To Basics.
Now it is time to minimize the defects in the clear coat and give it the final glossiness. This was achieved in 4 stages:
- First the whole body was polished with 3000 grit polishing sponge supplied by Spekter Žalec
- Next step was to polish it with the same polishing sponge just with finer 6000 grit level
- 3rd step is polishing the body with 8000 grit polishing sponge
- After this the clear coat is very smooth but a little dull — so the last step is to machine polish it with medium density polishing cone and 3M Finesse-it polishing liquid
After this a gentle wash was made using AKInteractive enamel wash.

Main Assembly
Since all the sub-components are finished it is now time to start with the final assembly of this custom GT3 scale model.
First thing that had to be assembled was the dashboard, after this the door cards and the rest of the interior were placed inside of the body.
When the interior is in place it was time to attach the front and rear splitters that are covered in S.k.decals book match carbon fiber decal, and the same goes for the rear view mirrors.
Next was the installation of the lights and windows, after the windshield was installed also the wipers were added. Since at this stage I didn't have the 3D printer yet the number plate that came with the model was put on and also the very clumsy Porsche logo under the rear lightbar was put in place. But those two details will be replaced in the next and also the last build post for this model.
To finish it up the Geronimoworks custom wheels got put in the correct position and the front Porsche emblem was attached to the body.
3D Printed Custom Details
Like promised here is the last work in progress post for the custom GT3 model, and since I have recently got a 3D printer I had to make some details myself.
First thing I had to replace was the rear under light Porsche sign. Alpha Model intended to do this with use of PE parts — the problem is that each letter was a separate part and that 3 parts were forming one letter so it could be high enough.
After struggling with the PE part I have designed my own logo and printed it on my ELEGOO Mars 4 Max resin printer. The result was so impressive that I had to do a custom number plate as well.
I had a few different designs made and printed and in the end I have chosen the one you can see.
