Alpha Model AM43-0002 · Build by Break Wong

Introduction

The Ferrari 812 Superfast — the most powerful naturally aspirated production car engine of its era, captured here as a 1/43 scale full detail resin kit by Alpha Model.

The Ferrari 812 Superfast (Type F152M) is a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive grand tourer produced by Ferrari that made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It is the direct successor to the F12berlinetta. The design takes inspiration from the 365 GTB/4 Daytona — a two-box, high-tail silhouette echoing Pininfarina's legendary proportions, though styled at the Ferrari Styling Centre.

As Ferrari's flagship front-engined V12 grand tourer, the 812 Superfast is powered by a 6,496 cc (6.5 L) F140 GA V12 — an enlarged version of the 6.3-litre unit used in the F12berlinetta. It produces 800 PS (588 kW; 789 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 718 N·m (530 lb·ft) of torque at 7,000 rpm. Power is delivered through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox manufactured by Getrag. In 1/43 scale, the challenge is to capture the sweeping proportions and muscular surfacing of this long-nose GT in miniature — especially the iconic quad circular taillights and the body-coloured rear diffuser.

Unboxing the Kit

After opening the product packaging, take out all the component bags and the car body. Components that are prone to damage during transit include the A-pillars, brake calipers, rims and other small parts. Once it is confirmed that no parts are damaged, inspect whether the etched sheets have bending or damage and whether the water decal sheets have stains. After ensuring that all standard items are in proper condition, you can begin preparations for assembly.

AlphaModel's products feature precise mold making, and their production technology is particularly sophisticated in vehicle shell production. The resulting shells are precisely contoured, with smooth surfaces free of burrs and shrinkage, deep engravings, and sharp edges. These features significantly reduce the difficulty of production, making them ideal for beginners.

Alpha Model AM03-0011 · Build by Anthony Ricco (Model Mercenary)

About the Real Car

The Ferrari SF-23 was Scuderia Ferrari's challenger for the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship, raced by Charles Leclerc (#16) and Carlos Sainz (#55). An evolution of the 2022 F1-75, the SF-23 kept the famous rosso corsa red and added fresh black and white graphic elements, with the team fighting at the front on circuits that suited its package — Sainz took a memorable victory in Singapore that season.

For the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Ferrari ran a special celebratory version of the livery with striking yellow accents on the nose, engine cover and wings. This build represents that Monza car as Charles Leclerc's #16 — and, in a deliberate twist, finishes it as a post-race weathered car, as though the driver has just climbed out after a hard afternoon of racing.

3714

About This Build

This feature follows Anthony Ricco (Model Mercenary) building the Alpha Model AM03-0011 Ferrari SF-23, a 1/20 scale full detail resin kit. The manual covers ten stages: parts check, washing, adjustments, priming, painting, interior, decals, detailing, weathering and the finished build.

Step 1: Parts Check

One of the best moments of any Alpha Model kit is opening the box — and this one does not disappoint. The resin parts are beautifully moulded, the photo-etched frets are crisp and carefully protected, and the kit also includes some very elegantly made 3D printed components.

The decal inventory is remarkable: four large sheets of carbon fibre decal plus two sheets of logos and extras. The sheet even offers the option to build the Italian GP car with its fantastic yellow highlights — which is exactly the direction chosen here. You can also choose between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz; this build is the #16 Leclerc car.

Alpha Model AM03-0009 · Build by Enrico Sironi

Welcome

Hi everyone — here is a new build story from Italian modeler Enrico Sironi (esmodel_bgm): the Alpha Model 1/20 scale full-detail resin kit of the Ferrari F1-75, Charles Leclerc's #16 car from the 2022 Formula 1 season. This is Enrico's first Ferrari F1 build, and in this series he shares every stage — from unboxing the resin parts to the finished car on its display base.

The Real Car: Ferrari F1-75 (2022)

The 2022 season brought the biggest technical regulation change in a generation: ground-effect floors, simplified front wings and larger 18-inch wheels, all designed to improve overtaking. Ferrari answered with the F1-75 — a car widely regarded as one of the most beautiful of the new era, finished in a deep satin red with the team's iconic black and white accents.

The name "F1-75" was chosen to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first car to bear the Ferrari name, the 125 S of 1947. Designed at Maranello under chassis lead Enrico Cardile and powered by the Ferrari 066/7 power unit, the car was immediately competitive: Charles Leclerc (#16) scored victories in Bahrain, Australia, Austria and Singapore, while Carlos Sainz (#55) took his maiden Grand Prix win at Silverstone. The F1-75 returned Ferrari to the very front of the grid and remains a favourite among Tifosi and scale modelers alike.

The Kit

The Alpha Model AM03-0009 is a 1/20 scale full-detail resin kit of the F1-75. It replicates the modern ground-effect Formula 1 car in full: multi-element front wing, sculpted nose, sidepods with their signature gull-wing inlets, halo, exposed push-rod suspension, floor and diffuser, beam and rear wings, plus the complete sponsor livery as finely printed water-slide decals. Resin castings cover the monocoque, aerodynamic components and wheels, while photo-etch frets add harness belts, mesh panels and the tiny fasteners that bring the floor and wings to life.
