Hi everyone — here is a new build story from Italian modeler Enrico Sironi (esmodel_bgm): the Alpha Model 1/20 scale full-detail resin kit of the Ferrari F1-75, Charles Leclerc's #16 car from the 2022 Formula 1 season. This is Enrico's first Ferrari F1 build, and in this series he shares every stage — from unboxing the resin parts to the finished car on its display base.

The Real Car: Ferrari F1-75 (2022)

The 2022 season brought the biggest technical regulation change in a generation: ground-effect floors, simplified front wings and larger 18-inch wheels, all designed to improve overtaking. Ferrari answered with the F1-75 — a car widely regarded as one of the most beautiful of the new era, finished in a deep satin red with the team's iconic black and white accents.

The name "F1-75" was chosen to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first car to bear the Ferrari name, the 125 S of 1947. Designed at Maranello under chassis lead Enrico Cardile and powered by the Ferrari 066/7 power unit, the car was immediately competitive: Charles Leclerc (#16) scored victories in Bahrain, Australia, Austria and Singapore, while Carlos Sainz (#55) took his maiden Grand Prix win at Silverstone. The F1-75 returned Ferrari to the very front of the grid and remains a favourite among Tifosi and scale modelers alike.

The Kit

The Alpha Model AM03-0009 is a 1/20 scale full-detail resin kit of the F1-75. It replicates the modern ground-effect Formula 1 car in full: multi-element front wing, sculpted nose, sidepods with their signature gull-wing inlets, halo, exposed push-rod suspension, floor and diffuser, beam and rear wings, plus the complete sponsor livery as finely printed water-slide decals. Resin castings cover the monocoque, aerodynamic components and wheels, while photo-etch frets add harness belts, mesh panels and the tiny fasteners that bring the floor and wings to life.

In the next chapters, Enrico opens the box, prepares the resin castings, lays down the famous Ferrari red, applies the sponsor and carbon-fiber decals, and finally assembles and displays the finished car. Enjoy the view!

I removed the loose parts and slowly heated and straightened the A-pillar using a hair dryer, moving it around 1 mm at a time. I then used Tamiya putty and sanding to rebuild its shape, repaired the roof, sanded and polished the windshield, repainted the damaged area, and reassembled everything.

The restoration took around a month, but you would never know it happened by looking at the finished model!

About this model

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. The second-generation M2 uses the CLAR platform, codenamed G87, which it shares with the G80 M3 and G82 M4. It features the BMW S58 twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, developed by BMW M GmbH.

This was a challenging but very rewarding project. I’d love to hear your feedback!

This will be next up in my build list after my current build is completed. My current thinking is to leave both doors open as a build by another AM builder showed there is some effort required to get the door opening and the door parts modified for the closed door position. And that is beyond my skill level at this point. 

The photos show all of the kit's pieces, and based on the instruction sheets, the interior looks like it is fairly well detailed. With the doors open, that will allow viewing of the interior detail instead of peeking thru the windows.

I'm excited to get started on this as soon as possible. I've already got the body's paint color mix figured out based on another Max Red Bull kit I did previously.
